NCAA Week 5 Top Matchups
Last week’s games boasted some impressive wins and some very shocking upsets. This week is sure to do the same with some great matchups already getting the spotlight. With Alabama escaping a near loss against Arkansas, Boise State skimming past Oregon State, and The Longhorns getting bumped from the top 20 by UCLA, the table is open for teams to making their run for top dog.
Texas A&M @ Oklahoma State Cowboys (-3 ½)
Thursday, September 30 – 7:30 PM
Both of these teams had a week off to rest for this game. The Aggies are looking to chip their way into the Top 25 Rankings while Oklahoma State is trying to defend that position after beating Tulsa in their last game.
Oklahoma State played very well against Tulsa. QB Brandon Weeden threw 6 TD passes and over 400 yards in a blowout over the Golden Hurricane. His passing was very accurate as he completed 23 of 32 attempts and ran the score up enough to warrant his removal from the game. He was replaced with backup QB Clint Chelf who threw for 165 yards and 2 TD’s. The Cowboys are looking strong and confident and should be well rested for the matchup with the Aggies.
The Aggies enter this game with the same record of 3-0 as Oklahoma State, but this will be their toughest challenge yet. After playing some low level teams for the first 3 weeks Texas A&M has had the chance to take a week off in preparation of this game. During those first 3 games the Aggies racked up 123 points and only allowed 43 points against. QB Jerrod Johnson has a passer rating of 139.23 and is averaging just over 288 yards per game. RB Christine Michael has 3 TD and 331 yards to date for this season as well.
While Oklahoma State represents the Aggies’ biggest opponent yet, the Cowboys will need to be well prepared to shut down the Aggies’ high powered offense, otherwise they could easily be surprised. There are a few betting trends that are vital to consider. Texas A&M is 1-6 SU when on the road and also 1-6 ATS when on the road in the last 7 games. The total has gone OVER in 10 of their last 12 road games and they are 10-4 SU against Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State comes in with an 11-3 SU record in the last 14 games. The total has gone OVER in 4 of the last 6 and is 5-1 SU in its last 6 home games. They are 2-3-1 ATS when playing the Aggies.

Northwestern Wildcats (-4 ½) @ Minnesota Golden Gophers
Saturday, October 2 – 12:00 PM
The Sportsbooks seem to be giving Minnesota quite a bit of credit in this game as they come in with a 1-3 record to face an undefeated Northwestern team and are only considered 4 ½ point underdogs. Northwestern has outscored its opponents 120-62 this season and has a highly ranked passing game sitting at 27th overall. Their defense is also very capable with a rank of 22nd overall. It will be difficult for the Beavers to beat a strong defensive team.
The Golden Beavers are just 1-3 this season and have lost 3 straight. In their defense, they have had a slightly tougher schedule than Northwestern which included a loss to #18 Southern California. QB Adam Weber has been rather impressive for the Beavers with 1005 yards, 7 touchdowns and a passer rating of 145.14 on the season.
Although the Beavers may be an underdog in this match, historical data gives them a good chance for
wagers. In the last 6 matches against Northwestern, Minnesota is 4-2 SU while the Wildcats are just 1-4 ATS in the last 5 games against Minnesota. This is sure to be an interesting match. The experts’ picks can give you some peace of mind when putting money down on this one.
